Record breaking Cyber Monday for Intu

Almost 125,000 unique users visit Intu.co.uk on Cyber Monday, up 58% on last year.

Following on from strong footfall across its shopping centres on Black Friday and the Saturday, Intu has reported a record breaking Cyber Monday.

Just under 125,000 unique users visited Intu.co.uk on Cyber Monday, beating Black Friday and showing an increase of 58% on last year and 125% compared to an average day.

Online traffic surged in the morning, reaching its peak at 11.22am.

In terms of buyer profiles, 34% of visitors were females aged 18-34, compared with 17% of males of the same age group.

The next highest group were 35-44 year old females, comparing to 8% of males of the same age.

Overall, females made up 65% of the total number of online visitors.

In addition, 75% of all online traffic came via mobiles and tablets. This rose to 84% when also accounting for traffic to the website via email click through.

In terms of transactions, almost three in five purchases were completed on a mobile and seven in ten on mobiles and tablets.

Top purchases included headphones (representing 60% of all sales on Cyber Monda), followed by a good spread among other products including smart watches at 7% of sales and Android tablets at 3%.

“Customers were hunting for deals while on the move or at work to ensure that they didn’t lose out on their wanted items,” said Trevor Pereira, commercial and digital director at Intu.

“This was combined with visits to our centres, with over a million people walking through the doors on Black Friday and the following Saturday, underlining the importance of multi-channel retailing and the growth of click and collect.”
