Puffin adds CBBC hit Operation Ouch to roster

Company acquires new book based on BAFTA winning show from Maverick Television.

BAFTA winning CBBC show Operation Ouch! is making the move into the publishing sector, with Puffin acquiring world rights to a new book.

Acquisitions and new business manager Richard Haines has acquired world rights in all languages (excluding US) from Maverick Television for the Hu-Manual.

Aimed at 8-11 year olds, the title is a non-fiction visual tour of the human body. It is due for release in July.

Operation Ouch! is a multi BAFTA-winning CBBC show from the makers of Embarrassing Bodies, The Truth About Sugar and Old School, and is presented by real-life doctors (and twin brothers) Chris and Xand van Tulleken.

Richard commented: “Operation Ouch! with Dr Chris and Dr Xand has become one of the most beloved shows on CBBC; it manages to be both hilarious and informative at the same time and I am delighted that we are publishing this book to tie in to the show.

“The book is completely packed with incredible stats, facts and is enormously fun and I am sure it will be the perfect book for any fan of the show.”

Simon Knight, ceo at Maverick Television, added: “We are proud to have partnered with Penguin Random House on a book full of experiments, intriguing facts and jokes that brings together the humour and medicine of the television series in the ultimate guide to your body.”
