We find out what Fiona Macmillan looks for in a licence and 2016 highlights.
In a special series on The Source, licensing and publishing consultant David Riley talks to some of the key buyers of licences at the top publishers, asking what they look for in a licence, and what excites them about the marketplace at the moment.
Today: Centum Books.
Fiona Macmillan, publishing director, Centum Books
What do you look for in a licence?
“Rich stories and compelling characters with heart and humour. It’s essential that children will want to engage with the books as part of their wider world. More prosaically a strong programme of supporting licensees in core categories including toys and apparel to drive awareness for consumer take up.”
What are you excited about?
“2016 is a BIG year for Centum and I am super excited about our programme of books for the whole year. Highlights include The Secret Life of Pets, Ghostbusters, The Angry Birds Movie and the beginning of our relationship with Nickelodeon in the UK.”
