Products of Change ready to celebrate fifth anniversary

The summer of 2024 will mark a significant milestone for Products of Change as the brand and licensing industry’s only dedicated platform to sustainable transformation celebrates its five-year anniversary with a special get together for its community of members, industry pioneers and change makers.

On Tuesday 18 June Products of Change will be celebrating the moment that started it all, inviting members to gather at the Informa Markets offices in London for a special networking evening.

In half a decade, Products of Change has been able to engage the power of this expanding community to drive meaningful change. So, let’s take a look at Products of Change’s best five moments – its greatest hits – of these past five years.

1. Products of Change has built an international membership of businesses which care, now reaching one third of the global brand licensing industry in value, providing the only dedicated platform to driving positive change across the $390bn global brand licensing business.

2. Products of Change brought together a global brand licensing industry – including The LEGO Group, Paramount, BBC Studios, PowerStation Studios, Golden Bear, George at Asda, and others – on a major collaborative project to launch the industry’s first ever global framework for sustainable development in 2023. One year on, this has already been used as a reference within the sustainability strategies and guidelines across the membership network and highlighted as a game-changing resource for the industry.

3. The inaugural POC Awards in partnership with the United Nations launched in November 2023 at the Sustainability in Licensing Conference where they were presented by Caroline Petit, deputy director of the United Nations Regional Information Centre to members of the POC community for their dedication and alignment with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

4. Products of Change has delivered 466 newsletters, 6 magazines, 5 white papers, 1 industry framework, 16 educational courses and workshops across sustainability 101, packaging design and the circular economy, and 180 webinars as well as a growing number of educational modules for the membership over the last five years. POC has also partnered on five years’ worth of international trade shows with Informa Markets, Hyve Group, and Brands Media, spanning Licensing Expo, Brand Licensing Europe, Spring and Autumn Fair, and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and Licensing Trade Show.

5. Products of Change partnered to create a circular system to collect hard to recycle plastic toys with the not-for-profit Wastebuster and Tesco and has worked with the United Nations to launch the first UK Water Week, bringing together industry actors including Cartoon Network’s Climate Champions and the Wombles to nurture the water stewards of tomorrow.

… And a bonus number 6. This November will mark the fifth year of the Sustainability in Licensing Conference when the ground-breaking and agenda-setting conference will return to the Royal Geographical Society in London to spotlight and platform the latest pioneering developments in sustainability across the brand, licensing, consumer products, and retail sectors. Make sure you’re a part of licensing industry history by booking your tickets for the event – taking place on Wednesday, 6 November – here.

“The last five years has all been about galvanising support from the industry and recognising the importance of what we all now must do. The next five years will all be about collaboration and implementation as we map our progress and will prove to dwarf the last five years in relation to the effort, scale, and partnership that will be required to achieve this,” said Helena Mansell-Stopher, founder of Products of Change.

“We really are at the start of the journey of the next, crucial, five years. But with the strength of the community we have built over this past five years, we couldn’t be in a better position than right now to take it all on and in our giant strides forward.”
