Pooky teams with Morris & Co on debut lampshade collection

Decorative lighting specialist, Pooky has collaborated with British brand Morris & Co on a debut collection of printed lampshades.

The range of nature-inspired designs has been specially curated from the William Morris archives to bring together a selection of five exclusive prints in eight distinctive colourways.

Available in a range of lampshade sizes from 12cm to 50cm, each has been created to complement both modern and classic interior styles.

Comprising two silk and three linen varieties, the silk pieces represent the Snakeshead and Pimpernel designs, while the linen pieces showcase Willow Boughs, Marigold and Rosehip.

“William Morris’s work was always guided by his belief that you should “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”,” commented Rohan Blacker, founder of Pooky. “This ethos is exactly why we are so happy to be working with Morris & Co. on this quintessential range of lampshades.

“Picking out patterns from their seemingly endless library of designs was like letting small children lose in a heritage sweet shop and keeping to a small shortlist was agony. But we’re so pleased with the final result which is Morris & Co. through and through – undoubtedly beautiful and very, very classy. We think our customers will absolutely love them.”

Claire Vallis, creative director at Morris & Co, added: “It’s a real thrill to see this stunning collection of lampshades come to life. William Morris’s timeless designs have brought colour and pattern to homes for over 160 years, and this feels like another step in cementing his legacy.

“Pooky, with their reputation for creating long lasting products in sustainable ways, uphold the same values we do here at Morris & Co. We love seeing our historic designs appear in new settings and, you might say, new lights.”
