Preschool characters join athlete Jeanette Kwakye for launch at Hounslow Heath Infant & Nursery School.
eOne’s PJ Masks characters joined 100m Olympic runner Jeanette Kwakye earlier this week, supporting UK children’s charity Youth Sports Trust as it marked the countdown to National School Sport Week.
Taking place at schools across the UK between June 26-30, the countdown to the initiative was kicked off with Catboy, Owlette and Gekko joining children at Hounslow Heath Primary School.
The trio took part in a workshop of activities promoting the core pillars of physical literacy: agility, balance and co-ordination. Youth Sport Trust Athlete Ambassador, Jeanette Kwakye, warmed up the kids and gave an inspirational talk about the benefits of leading an active lifestyle.
PJ Masks is the face of the charity’s Power of 3 initiative which specifically targets young children between the ages of 2-5, in primary schools and pre-school settings, to encourage them to take part in 30 minutes of daily activity, as recommended by the UK Chief Medical Officer.
By signing up to National School Sport Week, schools and nurseries will receive a free digital PJ Masks Power of 3 activity pack to help them get active during the week.
Rebecca Harvey, head of global marketing at Entertainment One Family, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Youth Sports Trust on this campaign.
“The reaction from the children at the event was phenomenal and a clear indication of how PJ Masks can positively impact children’s attitudes to sports and fitness at a grass roots level.”
