Perry Ellis eyes growth with Eastern Europe expansion

Company has also teamed with Focus International to relaunch footwear division of menswear brand, Farah.

Perry Ellis International is eyeing up growth, confirming a move into Eastern Europe and Kosovo, as well as the relaunch of the footwear division of menswear brand, Farah.

The company has partnered with Kosovo-based licensee Emporium, expanding its premium American heritage brands – including Perry Ellis, An Original Penguin by Munsingwear and Perry Ellis America – to Eastern Europe and Kosovo, with store openings in the region.

“Expanding our international footprint is a key growth initiative of our business strategy,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, ceo and president of Perry Ellis International. “We are focused on globalization of these strong North American brands. Distribution to new emerging markets within Eastern Europe such as Kosovo enables us to introduce such iconic American brands to savvy retailers and consumers alike.”

In addition, Focus International has taken on the licence for the footwear division of menswear brand Farah, which comes under the PEI umbrella.

The Huddersfield-based company also owns and licences several other apparel and footwear brands including ellesse, Yogi Footwear, Peter Werth and Nautica Competition. The acquisition will see Farah footwear return for AW20, with a new men’s collection launching in July.

Nodding back to its heritage, the AW20 footwear collection features updated classic styles, as well as new trend led silhouettes. An autumnal colour palette is present throughout. The AW20 collection features a selection of contemporary cupsole sneakers, with five different silhouettes making up the range.

The 12-piece collection is available in the UK in sizes 6-12, with prices between £60 and £120.

Jennie Bianco, head of marketing at Focus International, commented: “We’re excited to bring Farah footwear back into the market for AW20. The collection has a strong nod to its heritage, with styles influenced by its classic styles but featuring updated designs for the current generation.”
