Peppa Pig helps Character Options to strong half year

Toy company sees half year revenues up 12%, helped by strong licence performance.

Peppa Pig remains Character Options lead brand – with its strong performance helping the toy company to a 12% increase in half year revenues, it said this morning.

Revenue for the period stood at £65.2 million, compared to £58.2 million in the comparable 2015 period (year ending August 31 2015, £99.1m).

As well as Peppa, the company said that it was “very encouraged” by the strong demand for Teletubbies product since its retail launch in January.

Other licences including Minecraft, Scooby-Doo and Fireman Sam also performed well.

New licences secured within the period include Stretch Armstrong – a range of products will be launched on a global basis, including the US, where a new TV series is being developed by Netflix.
