Penguin Ventures clicks with Bricklive for The Snowman

New Christmas activation will focus on sequel The Snowman and The Snowdog.

Penguin Ventures has secured a partnership with Bricklive to produce a Christmas activation for The Snowman and The Snowdog.

Bricklive will create a new tour inspired by the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book, The Snowman.

The Snowman and The Snowdog brick trail will consist of 16 models including four large models for memorable photo opportunities and 12 smaller models to create an interactive treasure trail made from brightly coloured toy bricks.

Banham Zoo is the first UK venue to be announced as a host for the 2019 launch of The Snowman and The Snowdog official Bricklive tour, launching on Friday November 29, 2019 at an exclusive event to the zoo’s annual pass holders. It will then open to the general public from Saturday November 30 and run through until Sunday January 5, 2020.

“We are always looking at how we can bring our classic characters to family audiences in new and unexpected ways and partnering with Bricklive does exactly that,” said Thomas Merrington, creative director at Penguin Ventures. “The sculptures show incredible attention to detail and we are excited to see this trail come to life.”

Andy Smith, md of Bricklive Group, added: “We are overjoyed to be partnering with Penguin Ventures, a leading player in the family entertainment sector, to deliver The Snowman and The Snowdog branded Bricklive tour in the UK and Ireland.

“Adding this timeless classic to our festive portfolio is a very proud moment and we look forward to developing an amazing proposition for our customers and their visitors.”

The four large brick models include The Snowman standing at 1.8 metres tall and will use a whopping 53,851 bricks to build; Billy building The Snowman will be 1.3 metres tall using 42,901 bricks; The Snowdog at 75cm high using 11,526 bricks; and a 1.8 metre wide Mosaic ‘Head in the Hole’ selfie zone of the famous trio flying through the air made using 28,000 bricks.

Bricklive will build 12 30cm high models consisting of famous scenes and themes from The Snowman and The Snowdog including the House at Night, Grandfather Clock, Christmas Tree and Father Christmas. Families will be able to follow the models to complete the trail, entering a festive competition once completed.
