New TV series and dedicated products, plus appearance in special trail among plans for classic brand.
The Copyrights Group has outlined a plethora of plans for the Paddington brand in 2020.
New developments for the popular franchise begin with the launch of The Adventures of Paddington TV series in the UK this spring. Starring the voice talent of Ben Whishaw as Paddington and with a theme tune by Take That’s Gary Barlow, the preschool series is aiming to introduce the character to a new audience.
Following the launch of the TV series, a range of dedicated products will launch including new books from HarperCollins in the spring.
This will be followed in the autumn by new products from Rainbow Designs (plush and toys), Ravensburger (puzzles) and Trends UK (electronic learning).
Additional tie-in products are due from spring 2021.
Meanwhile, from February, fans in London will be able to sit on one of the benches in Leicester Square and have lunch beside Paddington as part of Scenes in the Square. This is a dynamic trail of eight interactive bronze statues inspired by Britain’s love of film and a century of cinema from the 1920s to 2020s.
The ongoing partnership with Butlin’s will continue with Paddington at the Seaside, with the live stage show performed in all three UK resorts.
In addition, a third Paddington film is currently in development.
