Sarah Moughtin from John Lewis tells us what’s selling well for the retailer.
Customers are looking for brands with innovative products that offer a ‘special’ element, according to a key buyer from department store chain, John Lewis.
Sarah Moughtin (pictured), assistant buyer of stationery at John Lewis, spoke to Licensing Source Book as part of the judging of the product categories for this year’s Licensing Awards.
We asked what brands were selling well in the run up to the key Christmas period at the retailer.
Sarah told us: “Brands that exude quality on innovative products with that ‘special’ element are what cuts it for our customers.
“The Sara Miller London, Alice Scott, Kate Spade and Ted Baker ranges are some of the best examples of how this is being achieved – beautiful products that really stand out.”
Sarah continued: “Pusheen is also doing well for us, the engaging character and cute play on words adds a bit of fun.
“The licensing activity on Polaroid is also an interesting take on the nostalgic pull.”
