Online playground Animal Jam eyes licensing

Rockpool Licensing on board to develop consumer products and promotions for UK.

Rockpool Licensing is continuing to grow its portfolio – adding online playground Animal Jam, following a deal with Wildworks.

The company will now look to grow the consumer products and promotional programme for the brand in the UK. MD Vickie O’Malley will be working closely with Peeko, which handles worldwide licensing rights for Animal Jam.

Animal Jam is the fastest growing gaming site in the US and there are over 50 million registered users worldwide.

It is now making the move into physical product, appointing Jazwares as the master toy partner. Along with a number of other key categories, toys will launch at retail this autumn in the US.

“We’ve seen phenomenal growth of the Animal Jam player community in the UK over the past year, with millions of kids who love animals and the natural world joining their friends in our online playground,” said Clark Stacey, ceo of WildWorks.

“Anticipation for the launch of Animal Jam toys, apparel and accessories is already extremely high. Rockpool brings a unique depth of experience in children’s products and the local market that will enable us to deliver top-notch experiences to kids and parents in the UK.”

Vickie O’Malley, Rockpool md, added: “Wildworks’ achievement with Animal Jam is hugely impressive and the potential for consumer products is immense.

“The metrics are astounding; already over 3 million registered users in the UK and an astonishing 70 minute average engagement time. Animal Jam is visually enchanting, immersive and very much fun. The 8 year old me would have been captivated.

“Jazwares launch in the UK & Eire this a/w and retail feedback has been extremely positive. Animal Jam is fast emerging as a substantial licensing opportunity across all categories. There’s tremendous buzz following recent shows and I’m very much looking forward to bringing new partners on board.”
