Classic movie brand is latest to feature in advertising campaign for bank.
Halifax is continuing with its run of featuring licensed brands and characters in its advertising campaigns – with classic movie franchise Ghostbusters being the latest to take a starring role.
The new ad from Adam&Eve/DBB includes footage from the 1984 film starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, with the aim to promote the bank’s Visa debit cards.
Characters have been superimposed into clips from the movie for the TV ad – just like with the Halifax’s previous campaign featuring Wizard of Oz.
As well as the TV ad, the campaign is running across branches, outdoor, radio and social media.
Catherine Kehoe, md for brands and marketing at Halifax’s parent company, Lloyds Banking Group, was quoted on The Drum as saying: “As a straightforward bank, we keep things simple, so seeing Greg show Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis just how easy it is for our current account customers to pay with Visa contactless.”
Halifax has previously used The Flintstones, Top Cat and Scooby-Doo in its campaigns.
