Last night’s (24 March) Northern Quiz in aid of The Light Fund was a tremendous success – with the event’s return to Manchester raising almost £14,000 for the industry charity.
The quiz – which took place at Hotel Football – raised £13,927. This included a staggering £2,285 from a special auction which saw the assembled industry executives bidding for items including signed Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea football shirts, tickets to The Lion King and Amir Khan’s signed boxing gloves.
In addition, there was also a raffle with prizes donated from a host of generous companies.
The Waifs and Questionable Characters (the team from Character Options) came joint first with 72 points, with The Waifs – made up of executives from Bioworld, Imagine8, Dependable Solutions, IMG and The Insights Family – winning the tie-break to take home the trophy.
At the other end of the table, the team from Smiffys took home the special big pants with a score of 51.
“We were all so pleased with the event; it was a great success and it was lovely to be able to finally all get together again and raise nearly £14k for The Light Fund,” Jo Duckworth, director of Dreamtex and part of the Northern Quiz organising committee told LicensingSource. “Big thanks to everyone who helped to organise it all and support the quiz with tickets, prizes and donations.”
