Nintendo Switch lands in the UK

New video games system will welcome several key licensed brands to portfolio.

Sales for Nintendo’s new video games system have got off to a strong start in the UK, according to reports this morning.

The Nintendo Switch connects to the TV at home, while also transforming into an on-the-go handheld device.

Launched on March 3, the system has apparently notched up sales of 80,000 units in the UK already, according to video games trade magazine MCV.

A number of licensed properties are set to make their debuts on the system throughout the year.

These include Nintendo’s own Super Mario brand, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey in the line-up.

Activision’s Skylanders Imaginators, meanwhile, was part of the third-party software launch line-up.

In addition, major franchises including EA Sports FIFA, Minecraft, Street Fighter and Sonic the Hedgehog are also being lined up.
