Nickelodeon readies Wissper licensing push

Second series of preschool animation confirmed for Channel 5’s Milkshake block.

Nickelodeon is looking to build up the licensing programme around Wissper, after Channel 5 confirmed that a second series of the preschool animation has been commissioned for its Milkshake block.

The show is produced by Cuckoo, m4e AG, Telegael, Discreet Art Productions and BASTEI Media.

A Wissper toy line from Simba Smoby is due to hit retail from March, with the range including dolls, play-sets, role-play and plush.

Meanwhile, BASTEI Media is on board as master publishing partner, with Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products set to announce further partners for the property in the coming months.

Marianne James, vp commercial partnerships, consumer products and experiences, Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, commented: “It is brilliant that more episodes of Wissper have been commissioned.

“Wissper is a beautiful addition to our biggest ever preschool roster. The series, with its many locations and various animals, gives licensees and retailers a wealth of product and promotional opportunities.

“I’m looking forward to taking partners through our plans for the property at Toy Fair and announcing more Wissper deals later in the year.”
