Mattel and HIT Entertainment celebrated the launch of the new Bob the Builder toy line earlier this week with a special 60 tonne sand sculpture. Bob and his trusted digger Scoop appeared at BeachEast Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, with the sculpture standing over 10 feet rank and reaching 15 feet in length. It was crafted by professional sand sculptors, Sand in Your Eye and will be on display until September 4.

Cartoon Network EMEA has teamed with Zara Kids to launch a collection of Adventure Time inspired apparel. The t-shirt collection is aimed at ages four to 14 and is available in stores globally.

Square Enix has appointed CPLG as the licensing agent for its video game series, Life is Strange. The company will work across Europe, the Middle East and the US, securing new local and regional territory licensees.

Smiley has secured a new deal with sports retailer Lazy Bee, producing a new line of sportswear across stores in Korea.

Petra’s Planet has launched a new app, Bella’s Baking Blast. Dramaforum says the app will take children through simple recipes, as they help Bella to make the likes of cupcakes, pies and nachos.

Character World enjoyed success at the recent Star Wars Celebration at ExCeL in London, selling out of some of its products on the first day. The licensee shows products including double and single duvets, cushions, towels and cuddle robes, with the BB8-inspired version selling out on day one.

Golden Bear has promoted Barry Hughes to the position of managing director. Barry joined the company in June 2011 as commercial director and his promotion is in “recognition of the hard work and commitment he has shown to the company over the last five years” said chairman, John Hales.

DHX Media has licensed season one of its new animated comedy series, Looped, exclusively for Amazon Prime members in the US. Amazon is already home to key children’s content from DHX including In the Night Garden and Bo on the Go.

Musician Sia has joined the cast of My Little Pony: The Movie. Sia will play the role of Songbird Serenade, while she will also contribute two new original songs to the film’s soundtrack.
