The Pokémon Company is teaming up with The Entertainer and Game for special half term promotions to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Fans heading to The Entertainer can pick up a Collectors’ Album free of charge where they can showcase some of their cards from the latest TCG expansion, XY: Breakpoint. The retailer will be backing the promotion with Pokémon window displays, while selected stores will have additional POS. Master toy partner, Tomy, will offer a 25% discount on its range. Meanwhile, Game will be offering fans the Mythical Pokémon Mew in a special distribution.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Entertainment and Mattel have teamed with US retailer Target to offer a first look at the DC Super Hero Girls merchandise. The collection of toys, dress-up, apparel, accessories, publishing and more will be available exclusively at Target from March. In addition, Boomerang will be the exclusive broadcast partner for the animated digital shorts.
SmileyWorld has signed up Blueprint Collections for a new stationery and bag range. The company will work with retailers including Claire’s, Topshop, WH Smith, Waterstones, Tesco and Amazon among others with products including stationery accessories, notebooks, journals, bags and gift items.
Carousel Calendars has inked a deal with the Royal Horticultural Society to produce a range of 2017 RHS calendars, organisers and pocket diaries.
Lagardére Active TV has secured a deal with DreamWorks Animation for free to air and basic pay TV rights for its TV series. The collaboration will launch on Gulli in September with Dinotrux, DWA’s first original series.
Kids and family entertainment specialist, ZAG has partnered with Playmates, 1492 Pictures and Method Animation for 52 episodes of a CGI live action hybrid show under its Zag Heroez label.
FremantleMedia Kids & Family has secured a number of free to air TV sales for Danger Mouse. The new deals include ABC (Australia), Channel 4 (New Zealand), the Lagardere channels (France), RTE (Ireland) and MBC (Middle East).
In addition, FremantleMedia Kids & Family has appointed Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group as the home entertainment partner for its portfolio.
Awesome Media & Entertainment has secured a deal with Bloomsbury Children’s Books to publish four new titles in the Princess Ponies book range. The new titles will have holiday themes – Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Halloween and Christmas.
Localisation company BTI Studios has reshuffled its senior management roles, as it looks to keep pace with the fast moving broadcast sector. Elodie Powers, who currently oversees US operations, will in addition handle Global Timed Text Services; Marlies Schortinghuis will run the European Timed Text VoD team; Carlo DeCianti has been promoted from director of international sales to global vp of sales and business development; Anja Pajor has become md, dubbing, Northern Europe; and Robert Holmström becomes chief technical officer. Finally, Maria D’Alessandro has been appointed senior director of broadcast services.
