Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.
Moonbug Entertainment has acquired Little Angel, one of the fastest growing kids channels on YouTube. The network – which houses Little Angel and Little World – boasts more than 88 million subscribers on YouTube globally. Since 2019, the brand has seen its global viewership double. Moonbug is now planning to grow Little Angel exponentially by investing in content, expanding distribution to its global network and creating more ways for audiences to engage with the brand. It is Moonbug’s first acquisition since becoming part of Candle Media.
Entries are now open for Licensing Expo’s License This competition. Having launched 12 years ago in Europe, the competition premiered in the US in 2021 as part of Licensing Expo Virtual. This year, for the first time, the finale will take place in person in front of a live audience of manufacturers, retailers and brand owners, as well as the judging panel, on 26 May. There are two categories – Character & Animation and Brand & Design. The competition is free to enter and has a cut off date of Friday 25 March. Further details can be found by clicking here.
