News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including DHX Brands extending Character Options master toy licence until 2020.

The Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

DHX Brands has extended Character Options‘ master toy licence for Teletubbies for a further three years, following the current line’s retail success. The deal – which runs until 2020 – is for worldwide manufacturing rights with UK distribution and will see Character Options adding further plush and plastic toys to the range. New lines will be inspired by elements from season two, which launched earlier this year, such as the Tubby Car. In addition, further Tiddlytubbies toys are being developed following an initial launch this month. Overall sales for Teletubbies product range are up 36% in value and 23% in units from the same period in 2016.

A new collaboration with the Missguided fashion brand has been confirmed for Barbie. The Barbie x Missguided collection includes 43 pieces, apparently taking inspiration from the feminist spirit of 2017. Five key looks have also been created in miniature for Barbie. Items include tops, accessories, bottoms, denims, outerwear and swimwear.

Alton Towers Resort has opened the doors of the new CBeebies Land Hotel. Designed exclusively for preschoolers, the hotel boasts 76 fully themed rooms and has a packed entertainment programme featuring a number of CBeebies characters. The star studded launch event was attended by the likes of Kimberly Walsh, Michelle Heaton, Alesha Dixon, Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq.

Apple Corps and Titan Entertainment have expanded their relationship, with the latter set to publish an official illustrated adaptation of The Beatles‘ animated film, Yellow Submarine. The title is due to hit stores in 2018 to tie in with the 50th anniversary of the release of the movie. The deal was brokered by Bravado International, The Beatles’ US licensing agent.

Meanwhile, Titan Merchandise has launched the third wave of its vinyl collectables based on The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine.

Ink Global has appointed Simone Risgaard to the role of licensing and marketing coordinator.

Character World has launched a new Cars 3 range inspired by the latest Disney-Pixar movie. The textile specialist has designed and produced duvet sets, bean bags, curtains and cushions.

MD Licensing has signed Impronta Designers to bring Masha and the Bear children’s rides to amusement parks, family hotels and shopping malls across Italy.

Official Beat Bugs merchandise has launched at Target stores in the US. The exclusive range inspired by the Netflix hit includes toys, electronics, DVDs, publishing, apparel, accessories and more.

The Brand Liaison has announced the launch of licensing for Corey Paige Designs. Corey is currently creating a library of designs co-branded for collegiate and professional sports teams, as well as a line of destination themes for ‘name drops’ in the resort market.
