LEGO Ideas is bringing SEGA‘s legendary speedster, Sonic the Hedgehog, to brick form thanks to a concept design submitted by 24 year old LEGO superfan, Viv Grannell. Viv’s design was inspired by the 2017 platformer, Sonic Mania, and features iconic characters and environments from the game’s Green Hill Zone level. It will now go into the product development phase, in partnership with SEGA and, once finalised, will be available worldwide.
WildBrain CPLG has secured a wave of cross category licensees in Europe for Sony Pictures Consumer Products‘ TV series The Boys, Cobra Kai and Outlander. Focusing on the UK, for superhero series The Boys, deals have been inked with Forbidden Planet (apparel and accessories) and Pyramid International (posters and accessories). For Cobra Kai, WildBrain CPLG has scored deals with Pyramid International (accessories), Bioworld International (apparel and accessories), The Hut Group (apparel and accessories) and Ecell Global (phone accessories). Finally, Outlander has been boosted by deals with Aurora of Orkney (jewellery) and Ecell Global (phone accessories).
Cyclewear studio Milltag is due to launch its latest line of musical collaborations this February, this time with rock legends Motörhead. Produced in partnership with Global Merchandising Services, the collection comes emblazoned with the band’s War Pig logo and motto ‘Everything Louder Than Everything Else’. Pieces include a club fit jersey, cap and snood.
Baby essentials brand MORI has teamed up with Rocket Licensing on a new collection inspired by Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The limited edition range has been designed for newborns up to children aged six. It includes items such as a zip-up playsuit, a long-sleeved t-shirt, a pyjama set with ‘Tiny’ and ‘Very Hungry’ lettering, a romper and a two-pack short-sleeved bodysuit.
Kids Industries has won Best Branded Learning App in the digital category at the 2021 Kidscreen Awards for the Amazing Planet app, developed for conservation charity WWF-UK.
Jazwares and mixed martial arts brand, UFC, are teaming up once again on a new line of UFC action figures and role-play collectables. The UFC Ultimate Series limited edition figures include names such as Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal and Amanda Nunes among others.
The Frida Kahlo licensing programme continues to grow, with Art Ask Agency securing a collaboration with worldwide legwear and beachwear retailer, Calzedonia. A new range will include seven pairs of socks and four pairs of embellished tights.
Edutainment Licensing has launched its own branded TV channel on Smart TVs. The KIDDO app features shows from its edutainment catalogue in a partnership with VixiTV. The AVOD channel is already available to download on all LG and Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire and was lately released via GooglePlay for both mobile Android devices and TVs.
BBC Studios is expanding the Bluey CP offering in the US, securing five new partners. The new licensees joining the programme include The Bentex Group, Spin Master, Jay Franco, Zak Designs and Kurt Adler.
Maurizio Distefano Licensing – which manages the Masha and the Bear brand in Italy and Switzerland – has secured a major deal with Edizioni Play Press. The deal has seen the arrival of new activity books – including magic albums, sticker albums, puzzle books and colouring and drawing books – in kiosks across the country.
