Following on from the success of the inaugural Play at Home Fest in May, Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide is putting final preparations in place for the second installment of the virtual family festival this weekend. Major players from the world of licensing will be taking part including Nick Jr. with Blue’s Clues and You and PAW Patrol, Acamar Films, Dreamtex and HarperCollins with Bing, Rainbow with 44 Cats and party licensee, Amscan. Also returning to the stage is Aardman, which will be hosting a Shaun the Sheep model making workshop. They will be joining toy companies and brands such as Sylvanian Families, Aquabeads, Geomag, Drumond Park and Trends UK among others. The event will be accessible to families worldwide on Saturday August 29. It will be hosted by up and coming kidfluencer, Sisi from Sisi’s World and star of the West End musical, Matilda.
Hasbro has expanded WildBrain CPLG‘s representation to include CEE and Turkey. The agency will now handle Hasbro’s merchandise, publishing, promotions and short-term location-based entertainment business across Benelux, Nordic, CEE and Turkey. It was already acting as the sub-representative in the Nordics and Benelux.
Italian licensor Rainbow has celebrated 25 years with an audience at the Giffoni Film Festival, one of the leading kids’ film festivals. During the opening night (August 18), a special Rainbow installation was inaugurated which traces the milestones of the group since its beginnings in 1995. Visitors can delve into the world of Rainbow through unpublished images and the first cartoon drawings from the likes of Winx Club and 44 Cats.
Australia’s Illawarra Fly, Wildlife Sydney Zoo and Rippon Lea Estate along with new trail partner, The Ginger Factory, will be the first in the world to activate The Gruffalo Spotter 2 app on-site when it launches at locations across the country in September. The deal with the venues has been brokered by Magic Light Pictures‘ Australian licensing agent, Merchantwise Licensing. The app follows on from the success of the original Gruffalo Spotter app which launched with Forestry England in 2017.
Edutainment Licensing has been appointed as the worldwide distribution partner for the animated series, Hooray Hippo from Caters Media Group. Hooray Hippo combines 2D animation with real footage to teach children about different landscapes and the animals that inhabit them.
Endemol Shine North America has teamed with Spin Master Games on the release of a Deal or No Deal card game in the US.
Iconic Los Angeles retailer, Fred Segal has won several key decisions in its trademark infringement case against CormackHill. Handed down on August 19 by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, CormackHill has been ordered to immediately stop the use of the Fred Segal name and trademark above its Melrose property. This affirmed the District Court’s ruling that CormackHill is not a beneficiary of licence agreement between the Segal Family and the prior owner of 8100 Melrose.
