A new collaboration between Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls brand and fashion label Fyodor Golan was showcased at London Fashion Week. The 15-piece autumn/winter collection includes outerwear, tops, sweatshirts, skirts, dresses and trousers, while there is also a ‘mini me’ collection for women and their daughters. The range will launch at retail in July.
Darrell Jones is to leave his role as marketing director at Bandai UK at the end of March after 26 years with the toy company.
The RHS has licensed the Gourmet Candy Company to produce a range of RHS chocolates and sweets.
The Smiley Company has expanded its toy business with the introduction of Egg-Moji. The venture with Terrier Worldwide is a plastic egg which acts as a blind pack, filled with coloured dough that contains plastic ‘yolk’ with one Smiley figurine and two accessories.
German designer label JDSC has released a premium apparel collection featuring Pink Panther, in a collaboration brokered by CPLG. The range is available in selected retailers and online across Germany and Austria and includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, knitwear, trousers and jackets for men and women.
Streetwear label Illicit Clothing has appointed Global Licensing NZ as its licensing agent. The deal also encompasses the apparel licensing rights to the extensive works by illustrator Martin Emond.
Toei Animation and Funimation Entertainment have secured a number of new deals for Dragon Ball Super and original Dragon Ball Z anime series. Bioworld, JCorp and Great Eastern Entertainment are all now on board. The companies are also actively seeking additional partners in other apparel categories including sleepwear and underwear.
Kidz Bop has joined forces with Live Nation for a new 2017 ‘Best Time Ever’ tour. Kicking off in April, the tour will take in over 50 cities across the US.
Creative Licensing has been enjoying success with classic film brands such as Terminator, Rambo and Evil Dead 2 in the apparel space. In the past month, the company has assisted StudioCanal in extending its partnership with Licensing Essentials for Terminator and American Classics for Rambo. It has also recently signed Impact for This is Spinal Tap and Cotton Division for Rambo.
Music sensation Gummibär has become the most watched character on the internet with over eight billion views on YouTube. The song I am a Gummybear is the third most watched video on YouTube of all time. To build on the success, 78 story-led episodes of Gummibär & Friends from Toonz Animation launched on YouTube in June 2016. In the last seven months, the episodes have drawn an average of ten million views monthly.
Paws, Inc and King Features Syndicate have secured a number of new deals for the Garfield property in the US. Ripple Junction will be debuting a new apparel line, while High Point is launching socks, tights and leggings among other lines. Invicta will launch high-end watches in March, while Apparel Connection will roll out scrubs and lounge pants featuring the popular character.

Polybank Designs, the company behind the Pets Rock brand, has signed a development deal with Cuppa Coffee Studios to develop a half hour animated comedy on the property.
