Second look shows glimpse of Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant.
The second trailer for the eagerly awaited big screen adaptation of The BFG has been released.
The clip – which can be viewed below – gives a glimpse of Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant alongside Sophie (played by Ruby Barnhill), and has been met with a rapturous response across social media.
The Steven Spielberg film is due to arrive in UK cinemas on July 22. It forms a major highlight in the Roald Dahl 100-year celebrations which have been running since January.
eOne, which has pan-European licensing rights to The BFG, has also been ramping up its activity. The licensee roster already boasts the likes of Blues, Winning Moves, C&M Licensing, Kinnerton, Fashion UK, William Lamb, Gemma, Pyramid International, Danilo, Character World and Imagin8.
Global merchandise deals have been struck with Funko, That Company Called If and WETA, with Underground Toys distributing Funko’s vinyl collectable figure of The BFG in Europe.
Planeta Junior has also recently been appointed as licensing agent for The BFG in Spain.
Hannah Mungo, head of UK licensing at eOne, told The Source: “We’re all incredibly excited to share this new trailer as it gives licensees and retailers an insight into the spectacular cinematic experience that Steven Spielberg will be unveiling to audiences when The BFG movie premieres in July.”
