Former Nike and Disney exec, Josh Simon, joins as vp of consumer products for streaming giant.
Netflix is continuing to underline its ambitions within the consumer products and merchandising space, today (March 2) welcoming a new vp of consumer products.
Josh Simon joins the streaming giant from Nike, where he spent five years, most recently as vp and head of global strategy for product, design, merchandising and categories.
He has also previously worked at Walt Disney Studios for six years including as director of production and development.
He replaces Christie Fleischer who left her role as head of global consumer products last summer to become ceo of Benefit Cosmetics.
Josh will now be in charge of identifying and building plans across the CP business, collaborating with Netflix content teams on the initial development of brand and audience strategy for CP, reported Variety.
The streaming service has already made a significant impression in the CP space – both in the UK and overseas – with Stranger Things with recent activity including a major collaboration with Primark (a deal which was brokered by CAA-GBG).
Netflix will also have a presence at Licensing Expo in May with the company appearing on the exhibitor list for the show, which takes place in Las Vegas from May 19-21.
