Popular European heritage brand Moomin Characters, via master agent Rights & Brands, has extended The Point.1888’s representation agreement as its UK licensing agency.
Since being appointed as the UK agent for Moomin Characters, The Point.1888 has used its retail first brand extension model to continue building out the licensing programme signing close to 30 licensees.
The last three years have been exciting for the brand, from celebrating its 75th anniversary, to launching its ABC initiative, a literacy programme to help develop young readers and writers and significantly expanding the retail footprint.
The current licensee list includes Dennicci, TruffleShuffle, William Lamb, The Hut Group, Fashion UK, Karen Mabon, Aurora World, Play Press, Half Moon Bay, Pyramid, Muurla Design Marketing Oy, Petit Jour, Potato Cellar, Artisania Miniatures, House of Disaster, Skinny Dip, Star Editions, Heart & Soul, Collins Debden, Flame Tree Publishing, GBCC, Hype Associates, IAMFY, Moonpig, PSTR, Crafty Kit Company, PawPrint Family, Fiskars and Bakehouse.
The retail first approach of The Point.1888 has seen Moomin expand its UK distribution to include retailers such as ASDA, HMV, John Lewis, Urban Outfitters and Forbidden Planet among others.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue the amazing work that we do alongside Moomin Characters and Rights & Brands,” commented Katie Wilkinson, brand manager for Moomin and head of operations and publishing at The Point.1888. “Moomin is a brand that is as relevant today as it was when Tove Jansson wrote her original books, with strong themes that echo the sentiment of the wider world, that of love, inclusion and respect for nature. This year we have seen the licensing programme and retail footprint continue to grow with more and more partners joining and delivering beautiful product worthy of the brand. We are now starting to look towards the 80th which is incredibly exciting.”
