Grand opening will take place on March 16, 2019.
Moomin Characters has confirmed that the eagerly awaited Moomin Valley theme park will open in Japan on March 16, 2019.
The park will feature the ‘charm of the original stories and art’, with several attractions based on the original books, live shows and meet and greet events with characters.
As well as the Moominhouse, there will also be replicas of the bathing house and the lighthouse, as well as an exhibition where visitors can learn more about Moomin creator, Tove Jansson.
There will also be one of the largest selections of Moomin-related merchandise in the gift shop.
The news comes on the back of another successful Moomin Day, which was marked on August 9.
Arabia launched a limited edition Moomin mug – available for just 24 hours – with interest so high that it sold out within hours, according to Bulls Licensing.
On Moomin.com, the mugs sold out in less than five minutes, while in selected Iittala and Moomin stores in Sweden and Finland, people were standing in line for hours to get their hands on one.
