Upcoming animation opens up raft of new licensing categories for brand.
Mondo TV and Aurora are eyeing up a plethora of new categories for the Yoohoo & Friends brand, following a successful showcase event at last month’s Licensing Expo.
A new animated TV show is set to introduce a raft of new characters, offering extra potential within the licensing sector.
The Yoohoo & Friends line of plush toys from Aurora has sold more than 80 million pieces since its launch in 2007, therefore hopes are high for the take up on the animation.
Mondo said that key broadcasters – both free to air and pay TV – have already confirmed their interest in the series, with first episodes planned to reach screens in spring 2017.
As well as the existing characters of YooHoo, Pammee, Lemmee, Roodee and Chewo, the show includes 70 additional characters representing endangered, extinct and extraordinary animals.
Several key product categories are almost finalised, including master toy, publishing, collectables, food and personal care. Plush will remain directly managed by Aurora.
Matteo Corradi, Mondo TV ceo, said: “The delightful and entrancing YooHoo & Friends TV series will bring its message and appeal to a new medium – and an even bigger audience.
“The extraordinary potential of the property is definitely something worth promoting on a major stage to major players in the licensing industry, and we’re delighted that so many summit attendees agreed.”
