Moleskine unveils Toy Story limited edition line

New notebook collection features original silkscreen illustrations inspired by brand.

Moleskine has teamed up with Disney-Pixar for the launch of a new limited edition notebook collection celebrating the Toy Story franchise.

The range aims to pay homage to the behind the scenes work carried out by illustrators and animators.

Images on the cover are in fact silkscreen prints based on style guides designed by Disney-Pixar in new colours.

There are four hard cover limited edition notebooks in the collection, each featuring an originally designed cover. A Toy Story themed postcard (in either blue or red) is included in every notebook.

“At Moleskine we don’t believe in the divide between the analog and digital worlds. Creative work is made of a mix of both,” commented the design company.

Explaining how pen and paper are still fundamental to the design process, Ralph Eggelston, production designer on Toy Story, said: “To find the design of characters like Buzz and Woody we must have sketched thousands of pages of different approaches. Though the film was a landmark in computer-generated animation, we still used pen and paper to help conceptualize the world.

“In fact, that’s how we still work at Disney/Pixar. Everything starts with a notebook and a pencil. From there, our movies begin.”
