Miffy kicks off 70th year with exhibition and bubble tea collaboration

Targeting multi-generational audiences, Miffy’s 70th anniversary celebrations have begun with an interactive family exhibition at Leeds City Museum, plus a collaboration with bubble tea brand, Bubbleology.

Running until 7 September and free to enter, the ‘Miffy 70th birthday’ exhibition marks the first time Dick Bruna’s artworks have been on public display in the UK for 20 years.

Visitors are immersed in creative displays and activities which bring Miffy to life, while also exploring Dick Bruna’s design philosophy and illustration style developed across 124 picture books, over 2,000 book covers, plus other posters and logos for charities and worthy causes.

The exhibition is curated in partnership with Miffy’s brand owner, Mercis. It transfers to Norfolk’s Time and Tide Museum from September to early 2026.

The celebrations continue with the collaboration with Bubbleology, the UK’s leading bubble tea brand with 40+ outlets.

From 3 March to 1 June, a limited edition Miffy Carrot Cake Milk Tea will be available nationwide to celebrate the 70th anniversary. The exclusive drink aims to capture the flavours of carrot cake with a blend of carrot, vanilla and warm spices. It is paired with caramelised tapioca pearls and topped with a swirl of whipped cream, a dusting of cinnamon and Biscoff crumbs.

Made to order and 100% vegetarian, the freshly brewed organic tea is accredited by the Soil Association.

Highlight PR – which initiated the collaboration – is working alongside Bubbleology to amplify the promotion via influencer partnerships, PR, social media, plus costume character appearances at outlets in Westfield London.

“There’s a natural synergy between fans of Miffy and fans of Bubbleology,” commented Marja Kerkhof, md at Mercis. “We wanted this collaboration to be as iconic as Miffy herself and Bubbleology has delivered an un-bun-lievable flavour combination.”

Assad Khan, ceo at Bubbleology, added: “Bubble tea has exploded across the UK, and our mixologists are famous for creating unique flavours. This is the first time we’ve crafted a truly bespoke drink for Miffy fans, blending sweetness and spice in every sip.”
