Aardman’s creative director and classic character both join line-up for late May Bank Holiday virtual festival.
Classic brand Miffy and the creative director from Aardman Animations – Merlin Crossingham – have been added to the line-up for the upcoming Play at Home Fest.
Due to take place on May 23 and 24, the virtual festival is being organised by Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide and will raise funds for the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal.
Headlining the Time To Create Stage and bringing a model making workshop to the festival is Merlin Crossingham from Aardman. Merlin is creative director of Wallace & Gromit and Morph, but also directs commercials, short films and was animation director on the recent feature film Early Man. Merlin will share tips and tricks with budding animators.
Meanwhile, global family members’ club, Maggie & Rose has teamed up with Miffy to host a special session filled with Miffy-inspired art, crafts, cooking and storytime classes.
Stand up comedian and author, Shappi Khorsandi, will headline the main stage to entertain families during the virtual festival. In addition, tonies will take care of the evening wind down for little ones, with storytime performances on the main stage.
Ravensburer is sponsoring the Time to Create stage, while also joining the line-up will be Theodora Children’s Charity’s Giggle Doctors, Gibsons Games and Junko. The 3foot People Festival is also involved and will host a dedicated Preschooler stage, showcasing an array of under-5s focused talent.
“The line-up for Play at Home Fest is phenomenal already and we are just thrilled to be able to bring this level of play, fun, and excitement to families at such an uncertain time, while raising funds for the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal,” said Amanda Gummer, founder and ceo of Good Play Guide.
Opportunities to get involved with the festival are still available, but limited. Simply contact lauren@goodplayguide.com.
