Press and public go wild in Leicester Square, and even London Mayor Sadiq Khan is there.
The official opening of LEGO’s Leicester Square store today (November 17) has been greeted by a wave of media coverage – with London Mayor, Sadiq Khan even getting in on the action.
The store – the largest LEGO store in the world – was unveiled at 12pm in a giant ‘unboxing’ event; although special press and blogger previews had taken place the previous day.
As reported by The Source earlier this week, the store includes a number of London landmarks and icons faithfully recreated in LEGO, including Big Ben, the Elizabeth Tower and a Royal Mail postbox.
In addition, a partnership with Transport for London saw the creation of a special London Underground carriage – which took 4,000 hours to make – and includes a passenger you are unlikely to encounter on the real tube network, Shakespeare.
The store was officially opened by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. But you might need your glasses to spot him in the picture below…
