Mattel races into Formula 1 as Hot Wheels collection unveiled

Formula 1 and Mattel have unveiled the eagerly awaited Hot Wheels product collection.

The range will launch globally through 2025 and will bring to life eight F1 teams in a range of products across Hot Wheels’ Basics – with both single and 5-pack assortments, Premium collectors’ items, and new exciting Formula 1 track and play-sets to race on. The release expands on the limited edition 1:64 die-cast F1 branded car launched in 2024.

The 1:64 scale Hot Wheels Basics cars are built to race on the lightning fast F1 track sets for the ultimate home set up, with fans able to add to their collection with new Premium models that come with additional details to more closely replicate F1 cars at track including a metal body and chassis, authentic team liveries, driver numbers and Pirelli tires.

There are two specially designed Formula 1 Sprint Circuit and Formula 1 Sprint Race track sets – the former allows fans to battle and overtake to see who is the first to the chequered flag, while the Sprint Race set features a DRS booster to help give cars the extra edge and breeze past their competition.

2025 will also see Mattel have a presence at selected Grands Prix, with fan-focused Hot Wheels activations and retail opportunities.

“It’s fantastic to see the Hot Wheels Formula 1 collection begin to hit the shelves around the world,” commented Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer at Formula 1. “We want to drive our fans’ passion for racing, and these superbly and intricately designed cars will allow them to experience the drama and excitement of Formula 1 in the palm of their hands at home.”

Roberto Stanichi, evp of Hot Wheels and global head of vehicles and building sets, added: “The spirited response from fans around the world following our Hot Wheels and Formula 1 announcement has been thrilling. The next phase of the partnership is all about giving fans the products and experiences that bring the worlds of Hot Wheels and F1 together in a way that has never been done before, and we’re just getting started.”
