Mattel moves to bolster Hit preschool portfolio

Company aiming for further growth and expansion with Thomas, Bob and Sam.

Mattel has unveiled a raft of new deals supporting the Hit Entertainment preschool portfolio.

The company is eyeing opportunities for European growth in 2016 with Thomas & Friends, targeting Russia, Poland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Friendship remains at the heart of the brand, and the theme ‘When you race with Team Thomas, friendship always wins’ will be key.

Content will include a new story called Signals Crossed launching at the beginning of 2016, while the autumn DVD launch will be The Great Race. This will be backed with a range of tie-in products including toys, publishing and apparel. Series 20 will also launch on-air on 2016 introducing new characters.

Meanwhile, a new range of Bob the Builder toys will arrive in autumn 2016, aiming to create an engaging construction experience for preschoolers. Series two is also being lined up to hit screens in the autumn, and will feature three new vehicles.

New for Fireman Sam next year is the launch of series ten featuring an animal rescue theme, which introduces new uniforms and a specialist vehicle.

Toy partners will continue to drive the property across EMEA, with Ravensburger and Jumbo both coming on board. Meanwhile, apparel, home, footwear and back to school are all being bolstered.
