Magic Light Pictures celebrates multitude of award nominations

Company has now reached ten nominations for its licensing programme in 2020.

Magic Light Pictures has now reached an impressive ten nominations for its licensing programme in 2020, following the recent announcement of a brace of nominations at the German Licensing International Awards.

Added to its five nominations earlier this year for the UK Licensing Awards and three for the Progressive Preschool Awards, it takes the company to a new yearly record and reinforces the successful move in-house of its licensing operation last year.

At the German Licensing International Awards, The Gruffalo has been nominated for Best Licensed Property of the Year, while the brand’s collaboration with retailer Tchibo is nominated for Best Licensed Promotion. The winners will be announced online on October 20.

Meanwhile, The Gruffalo is nominated for the 11th year running for Best Preschool Licensed Property at The Licensing Awards, where Magic Light also received four product nominations: The Gruffalo collection by Cribstar in the Preschool Apparel category; The Snail and the Whale by FatFace in Kids Apparel; The Gruffalo Organix snacks in Food and Drink Range; and The Gruffalo by MORI (pictured) in the inaugural Sustainability Award. The awards will be announced online on the evening of Wednesday December 16.

The three Progressive Preschool Awards are for The Gruffalo and Other Stories collection with Sainsbury’s and The Snail and the Whale range by FatFace, both in the Apparel category; and The Gruffalo’s Child advent calendar by Danilo in the Publishing Range. Winners will be announced online on the evening of Thursday November 12.

In addition, Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey at Chessington was nominated in the Best Experiential or Location-based Initiative at the US Licensing International Awards in the summer.

“We are thrilled with this plethora of awards nominations, which are testament to the fantastic work of our team in progressing our licensing programme over the past year,” said Daryl Shute, brand director at Magic Light Pictures. “I’m particularly proud of our nominations in Germany, and huge thanks to Active Merchandising who have been working so hard on the brand’s development in Germany.”
