New paperback and board book editions due to release, while partnerships also confirmed with Milkshake and Illuminated Films.
Andersen Press is celebrating 35 years of Little Princess with new editions of the classic books by Tony Ross, as well as tie-ups with TV and animation partners.
I Want My Potty – the first ever Little Princess book first published in 1986 – has been re-issued in paperback, and I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands, the pandemic-related hit from last year, has been published in board book for the first time.
Andersen Press is also marking the occasion with partnerships with Illuminated films, the creator of the Little Princess TV series, and Milkshake TV on Channel 5, the home of Little Princess for over ten years, and the place to watch the new fourth series of the animated TV show every morning.
Milkshake has recorded a special reading of I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands with its presenter Amy (now live on its YouTube channel) and is running a competition to win a set of Little Princess books, on air every day and online.
Meanwhile, Illuminated films has shared three special videos on the Little Princess YouTube channel, which has over 313,000 subscribers.
Tony has also filmed special readings of the two books, while a Q&A between him and Princess herself has also been created.
“Little Princess has been part of the Andersen Press family for so long we couldn’t let her birthday pass without some fan-fare,” commented Paul Black, PR and brand director at Andersen Press. “We know that children around the country watch her adventures on Channel 5 every day, as well as read Tony Ross’ classic books, so to partner with our animation and TV colleagues is the perfect way to celebrate.”
Speaking about the anniversary, Tony said: “It’s been great fun to publish the Little Princess with Andersen books over the years, and it’s amazing to see how much she’s grown from those first books.
“I wrote I Want My Potty after watching my daughter when she was a toddler, who hates to hear this as she’s now in her 30s, after watching her struggle on her potty I thought this could make a good children’s book as it’s such a funny business. And here we are all these years later.”
