Tottenham Court Road store is part of £500m expansion and will stock full Lidl product range.
The first central London Lidl store will open on Tottenham Court Road, the discount supermarket chain has confirmed, as part of a £500m expansion.
The 1,300m sq store will stock Lidl’s full range of products, meaning more potential shelf space for licensed ranges on the high street.
Lidl will also open a further 39 stores in the capital, reported Sky News, creating around 1,500 jobs.
New stores will also be opened in East Acton, Hackbridge and Watford over the next five years, while a new head office will open in Tolworth, south west London, and the Beldevere distribution centre will be expanded.
A new distribution centre will also open near Luton.
“London is at the heart of our growth plans across Great Britain, and we are proud to be in a position where we’re continuing to create new jobs,” said Christian Hartnagel, chief executive of Lidl.
