Licensing Expo reveals top line 2019 show stats

Digital content & gaming shows largest property category increase; repeat attendees and US audience up.

Informa Markets, the organiser of Licensing Expo, has revealed some top line statistics from last month’s show.

The event – which ran from June 4-6 in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas – added over 150 new exhibitors to the show floor, swelling its diverse catalogue of more than 5,000 brands spanning a variety of categories.

In comparison to 2018 figures, many property categories across the show floor saw an increase in the number of exhibitors, with the largest growth from Digital Content & Gaming (+27.78%), Related Services (+26.32%) and Art & Design (25%).

On the attendee side, licensing professionals from more than 70 countries came to this year’s show, up from 65+ countries in previous years.

Retail attendance continued to be strong with new retailer presence from the likes of Lowes, Primark, Total Wine & More, Vans and Wendy’s among others.

US domestic attendance also increased 5% over last year, while the show also saw a 38% increase in repeat attendees YOY.

It was also good news for the Matchmaking service. This year, over 4,900 meetings were confirmed through the business networking tool, up from 4,600 in 2018.

Notably, the service facilitated quality meetings for exhibitors and attendees alike, as the average user ranked their meetings 4.3 stars on a 5-point scale.

2020 marks the 40th anniversary of Licensing Expo, with the show returning to its May slot – running at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center from May 19-21.
