First China licensing awards will also take place during July’s inaugural show.
The inaugural Licensing Expo China is continuing to take shape ahead of its debut next month.
The event – organised by UBM and sponsored by LIMA – will run from July 18-20 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China.
It will debut more than 230 brands and properties on the show floor, across all categories of the licensing business.
In addition, the event will also host the first ever China Licensing Awards to recognise the achievements of the brands in the industry.
A three-day educational seminar programme will cover a wide range of topics including analysis of the global licensing industry and trends in the Chinese market.
Kermid Rahman, vice president and general manager for Disney Consumer Products & Interactive, will kick off the programme with the opening keynote discussing the power of Disney’s franchised licensing business.
Charles Riotto, president of LIMA, commented: “Licensing Expo China is the only trade show that LIMA sponsors in mainland China. The show is organized by UBM China. UBM’s knowledge of the licensing industry and expertise in delivering top-notch licensing trade shows is unmatched by any other show organiser.”
Athena Gong, general manager at UBM China (Hangzhou), added: “China’s licensing industry is young but growing faster than all other territories, which is evident from our exhibitor-base. Chinese consumers are becoming more exposed to different properties and consumer goods, and the launch of Licensing Expo China this year provides our customers with a platform to penetrate the growing market.”
