Licensing collabs spotted on C4 show

Ladybird books for grown-ups and V&A’s Oasis tie up spotted on What Britain Buys.

The Mary Portas TV show – What Britain Buys – returned to Channel 4 last night, and eagle eyed types might have spotted a couple of licensed properties on screen.

The programme – which aired from 9pm on the channel – focuses on the changing nature of Britain’s shopping habits.

Ladybird’s grown-up books were featured in a segment about the resurgence of physical book shops, enjoying a good amount of screen time.

Publishers were widely praised for their tactics of repackaging books with brighter, eye-catching covers to tempt consumers into stores, as well as tapping into the retro vibe.

Elsewhere, those with a fashion trained eye might have spotted that Carla Buzasi, global chief content officer at trend forecasters WGSN, was wearing one of the dresses from V&A’s latest collaboration with Oasis.

The episode can be viewed on catch up on Channel 4’s website.
