Licensees get on board with emoji brand

Global Merchandising Services reveals first batch of partners for hotly tipped brand.

The licensing programme for the emoji brand is stepping up a gear, with Global Merchandising Services revealing the first licensees to sign up.

The agent has secured deals across a variety of categories as it looks to take advantage of the huge audience for the brand – over six billion emojis are sent every day.

Cooneen/Misirli (nightwear, underwear, socks), Ravensburger (puzzles), Dreamtex (bedding and homewares), Danilo (calendars), International Greetings (stationery), Gemma (greeting cards and wrap), Finsbury Foods (celebration cake) and ECell Global (phone cases) are all on board.

Gabbi Langdorf from Global Merchandising Services, told The Source: “We have a fantastic group of licensees on board for the official emoji® brand, and they are working quickly to release the first official products into retail from spring this year.

“We are also talking to partners for apparel, gifting, publishing and promotional opportunities to build a comprehensive licensing and retail progamme, which will help meet the strong consumer demand for the property.”

Gabbi continued: “Emoji has become an integral part of how we communicate, with over 6 billion emojis sent every day. It is instantly recognised by all ages and its growing influence in popular culture, along with the sheer wealth of assets we have available for licensees, ensures that the emoji® brand has the foundations in place to become an evergreen licence in the UK.”
