Paw Patrol, Shopkins, Star Wars, Thunderbirds and Frozen all feature in this year’s top 12.
Star Wars and Thunderbirds – perhaps unsurprisingly – are among the must-have toys for this Christmas, marking just two of the licensed brands to make it into the 2015 Dream Toys listing.
Announced this morning (November 4), the annual list was decided by a panel of leading toy retailers in the UK, including Argos, Boots, Selfridges, Smyths Toys, The Entertainer, TK Maxx and Toys R Us.
While the total list includes 63 toys, the top 12 includes the following licensed properties:
Disney Frozen Sing-A-Long Elsa (Jakks Pacific)
Paw Patrol Paw Patroller (Spin Master)
Shopkins Food Fair – Scoops Ice Cream Truck (Flair)
Star Wars Bladebuilder Jedi Master Lightsaber (Hasbro)
Star Wars Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle (LEGO)
Star Wars The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon (Hasbro)
Thunderbirds Interactive Tracy Island Play-set (Vivid)
“The British toy industry enters Christmas peak season hoping for a record year after Disney’s Frozen, Minions and Minecraft have boosted sales by 6% in sterling since the beginning of the year,” said Frederique Tutt, toys global analyst for NPD.
“With other licensed merchandise such as Star Wars still to come, the market could expect to grow by over £100 million at retail to reach £3.2 billion by the end of the year.”
Gary Grant, chair of the Dream Toys committee (pictured), added: “2015 is going to be a vintage year for toys. Strong entertainment brands like Frozen, Thunderbirds and Star Wars are appearing alongside creative brands and classic evergreens.
“And Shopkins has become the new craze of the year, embracing all that is good about toys.”
