Licensed growth at Matalan continues with Me to You

Tatty Teddy helps to launch new children’s clothing range at ambitious retailer.

Matalan has welcomed the Me to You and Tatty Teddy brand to its licensed line-up, as the ambitious retailer continues to increase its profile in the space.

Carte Blanche Group has been working with Matalan to support the launch with in-store promotions, online content, competitions and plush giveaways, as well as inclusion in the retailer’s consumer mailer.

As part of the activity, Tatty Teddy travelled to Wales to visit one of Matalan’s top performing stores at Merthyr Tydfil to meet and greet customers and pose for photos.

The visit came as part of the retailer’s plan to create in-store theatre around it’s new-look Character Shop. As well as in-store activity, Matalan is creating special character zones with POS and floor fixtures to promote its new range of licensed products, which Tatty Teddy is at the centre of.

Tatty Teddy also visited Matalan’s head office in Liverpool, where staff were treated to a preview of the new lines, Tatty Teddy gifts, a bespoke cake created by Me to You licensee Finsbury Foods and balloon displays provided by licensee Pioneer.

Matalan’s childrenswear buyer, Kate Callendar, commented: “Tiny Tatty Teddy is working really well for us.

“The bestselling line is over 50% sold through in just five weeks. We are expanding our offer which lands pre-Christmas and we are confident these will be bestsellers.

“Our strategy is to establish an all year round offering for Tiny Tatty Teddy by ensuring we have appropriate ranges for key times of the year. Our Tatty Teddy nightwear range for girls continues to be a good performer and we will look to build on this range for autumn/winter 2017.”

The online competition hosted on Matalan’s Facebook and Twitter pages involved the giveaway of a special 21st anniversary Tatty Teddy which, according to Matalan’s senior social media executive Chloe Sharpe was “really successful, even for a contest, suggesting people are really passionate about the bear collection.”

Me to You and Matalan are now working together on plans for spring/summer 2017 to support the launch of Me to You ladieswear into the retailer.
