A host of licensed costume characters are set to take part in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this weekend.
A raft of characters will appear during The Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 5 June, which will bring to life iconic moments from The Queen’s reign, as well as showcasing our changing society over the past 70 years.
Characters appearing (managed by Rainbow Productions) will include Teletubbies and In the Night Garden (WildBrain CPLG); Fireman Sam (Mattel); The Wombles (Wombles Operations); Peter Rabbit (Penguin Ventures); Dennis from Beano (Rocket Licensing on behalf of DC Thomson); Paddington (Copyrights); Shaun the Sheep (Aardman); Wallace and Gromit (Aardman); The Gruffalo (Magic Light Pictures); The Clangers (Coolabi); Peppa Pig (Hasbro); Dangermouse (Boat Rocker, pictured above); and Postman Pat (DreamWorks).
‘The People’s Pageant’ will cover a 3km route to echo the Coronation 70 years prior, taking in the Mall up to Buckingham Palace.
The characters will feature in the second section of the parade – The Time of Our Lives – a vibrant display of British life since 1952.
An estimated one billion people across multiple platforms, including a live television broadcast on the day, will view the Pageant across the world.
Speaking about Dangermouse’s involvement in the Pageant, Nicola Herrman, vp brand management and licensing (UK, Aus & EMEA) at Boat Rocker, commented: “While Danger Mouse carries out this most important of jobs for Queen and country Penfold will be indulging in his jam obsession and making stacks of sandwiches for their street party.”
