Licensed characters among thousands of stars at Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant

A host of licensed costume characters helped The Queen to celebrate on the final day of the long weekend’s Platinum Jubilee, taking part in the special pageant yesterday (5 June), part of an almost 10,000 strong group of performers.

QP3The characters lined up alongside icons of the past seven decades during the pageant, bringing to life iconic moments from The Queen’s reign, as well as showcasing our changing society over the past 70 years.

Well known celebrity faces – including Sir Cliff Richard, Dame Joan Collins, Dame Prue Leith, Kate Moss, Twiggy, Holly Willoughby, Timmy Mallett, John Craven, Johnny Ball, Patsy Kensit, Heather Small, Charlotte Tilbury and Naomi Campbell (who also rubbed shoulders with Dipsy, above) – took to a number of buses which highlighted key moments from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

Characters which appeared (managed by Rainbow Productions) included Teletubbies and In the Night Garden (WildBrain CPLG); Fireman Sam (Mattel); The Wombles (Wombles Operations); Peter Rabbit (Penguin Ventures); Dennis from Beano (Rocket Licensing on behalf of DC Thomson); Paddington (Copyrights); Shaun the Sheep (Aardman); Wallace and Gromit (Aardman); The Gruffalo (Magic Light Pictures); The Clangers (Coolabi); Peppa Pig (Hasbro); Dangermouse (Boat Rocker, pictured above); and Postman Pat (DreamWorks).

Meanwhile, The Queen also met Paddington Bear in a sketch which appeared before the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday evening (4 June), an event which was watched by an average of almost 12 million people in the UK alone.

Paddington was seen having tea with the Queen – during which they both confessed to carrying around a marmalade sandwich.
