Licences star for Argos in 45-year top toy listing

Retailer marking 45 years of toys with a special exhibition at Tottenham Court Road store.

Argos has listed its best selling toys of the last 45 years, with a host of well-known licences making the grade.

The listing has been revealed ahead of the opening of a special Argos Toy Exhibition, which is being held at its Tottenham Court Road, London store throughout half term.

Visitors can take a trip down memory lane, with top selling toys from 1973 up the present day on show from October 22-28.

Licensed names making an appearance in the listing include Star Wars (including figurines of Luke, Darth and R2D2, 1977); Rubik’s Cube (1981); Strawberry Shortcake (1984); Transformers City Commander Ultra Magnus (1986); Ghostbusters Proton Park (1989); Optimus Prime Transformers Evolution (1990); Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles action figures (1991); Barbie (1993); Thunderbirds Tracey Island (1994); Power Rangers action figures (1995); Toy Story Buzz Lightyear (1997); Who Wants to be a Millionaire? board game (2002); In the Night Garden Iggle Piggle (2009); and Star Wars: The Force Awakens Kylo Ren Deluxe Electronic Lightsabre (2016) among others.
