Online marketplace reveals top shopping trends for Britain in 2018.
eBay.co.uk has delved into its data and revealed some of the top shopping trends for Britain in 2018, with a number of licensed names making an appearance.
LEGO may have marked its 60th anniversary in January, but its popularity remains sky high – it remained top of the toy box with one search for ‘LEGO’ every 30 seconds.
Films inspired sales, too, and with Fantastic Beasts proving a hit at the box office, Harry Potter also proved that he still had purchasing power for brick builders. The online marketplace saw nearly one LEGO Harry Potter related item flying off the virtual shelves every ten seconds.
Meanwhile, inspired by Love Island, eight bean bags and seven sun loungers were sold every half hour in June. Indeed, there were almost 40,000 ‘Love Island’ listings on eBay.co.uk, with items ranging from Prosecco glasses to the famous water bottles.
The World Cup also had fans bringing home a waistcoat a minute in July due to Gareth Southgate fever and filling Panini sticker albums at a record pace.
Other trends throughout the year included a retro revival with surges in sales of vinyl, board games and jigsaws. With more than 77,000 listings available on site, the online marketplace sold over 25,000 jigsaw puzzles in one month – that’s nearly 35 per hour.
