DreamWorks movie has also been produced in Mandarin and will release the same time as the original.
The third movie in DreamWorks’ hit King Fu Panda series will make history – marking the first time that an animated film has been produced in two languages, English and Mandarin.
Kung Fu Panda 3 is due to be released in China on January 29, the same day as the US.
However, Chinese audiences will be watching a specially animated film for a Mandarin performer.
Jeffrey Katzenberg, chief executive of DreamWorks Animation, told The Times: “It’s the first time in history in which an animated movie is actually been produced in two languages.
“The Mandarin version of the film is actually unique, in that they really have done an adaptation because there’s been [fresh] writing, there is the same level of improvisation and the vernacular is very, very much Chinese.”
Meanwhile, in the UK, Kung Fu Panda 3 is the latest animation to be used by Sky to help promote its broadband and TV offer.
This includes TV and print ad spots, and follows in the footsteps of The Minions Movie and Inside Out.
