John Lewis to open first store in the Middle East

Potential for licensed products as department store group opens up in Dubai.

John Lewis is to open its first outlet in the Middle East – striking a deal for a ‘shop-in-shop’ in the Robinsons department store in Dubai Festival City Mall.

The shop will be the largest outlet for John Lewis overseas – it is planned to be 15,000 square feet and is due to open in spring 2017.

It will have a larger range of products than the existing John Lewis international stores, selling own brand furniture, nursery, cookware, textiles and glassware, plus bed, bath, living and gifting lines.

In addition the new store, John Lewis has also extended its partnership with Robinsons in Malaysia. It will open a new shop-in-shop at Robinsons’ Kuala Lumpur store in March.

“The success of our existing international shop-in-shops has given us the confidence to open in the Middle East and increase both the scale of the space and product assortment,” said Andy Street, md at John Lewis.
