Jodie Whittaker unveils new Sonic Screwdriver to fans

The Thirteenth Doctor revealed the collectable at San Diego Comic-Con panel.

The Thirteenth Doctor – Jodie Whittaker – has unveiled the new Sonic Screwdriver which her character will use in the new series of Doctor Who.

Jodie revealed the new replica at BBC America’s Doctor Who panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The US and UK toy versions have been created by Seven20 and Character Options respectively. The eight-inch electronic collectable is an exact replica of the Doctor’s device and features a light crystal and two buttons which control the light and sound elements.

Designer Arwel Wyn Jones commented: “It’s a privilege to have been asked to redesign the iconic sonic screwdriver for the Thirteenth Doctor and a new generation of audiences. I can’t wait for people to see how the Doctor acquires it.”

Series 11 of Doctor Who is due to hit screens in the autumn.
